Next Library is an international community of forward-thinking library people who are pushing boundaries and exploring the evolving nature of the public library. Next Library was created by Aarhus Public Libraries in 2008. Today it is a network of more than 2500 library innovators from all over the world.
Design Thinking for Libraries
In close co-operation with the libraries in Chicago and IDEO, Aarhus Public Libraries has developed the toolkit Design Thinking for Libraries. The toolkit introduces news ways of understanding the needs of your patrons and how to engage with your communities like never before. The design methods and mindset are important parts of the way we innovate and develop the libraries in Aarhus.
Study visits can often inspire to the development of better services for citizens and local communities. Therefore Aarhus Public Libraries are always open for sharing knowledge and ideas with libraries and other professionals. Every year we host a large number of study visits and interns from Denmark and other countries.
Creative Learning is a playful, informal approach to education. The library has always been about what the citizen wants to read, do, or think - and that fits very well with creative learning activities that invite citizens to tinker, build, and create things that are meaningful to them.
